Final training weekend

This was our final weekend together before our trip to Kenya.  The weekend started with a bbq for dinner after putting up the tents.  This was followed by a campfire when we tested out the songs that we wanted to do with the children.

After getting up early for breakfast we met Steph, one of the previous volunteers from the Restart, who told us all about the children, gave us some tips and showed us a few of her many pictures. Using some of the information, we set to work on planning some of our sessions for the children. We were then handed out all of our trip uniform - very exciting - and of course we had to try it on for a photo.

After lunch we had a go at the grass sledging and attempted to race each other. When we got tired of pulling the sledging up the slope we decided to test out some of our planned activities and have a go at the assault course, but blind folded.

We then competed against each other in teams in our very own Twiga challenge. We were set tasks such as make a dress out of natural materials, form a human pyramid, fry an egg with a tea light, and many more.

The next morning we woke up very early to find that two out of the three tents had fallen down whilst we were sleeping. Luckily it was our last day so they were to be taken down anyway as well as pack everything away. That afternoon we talked about how to stay healthy on the trip and any other last minute information we may need.

Finally we said our goodbyes knowing that the next time we would meet would be at Heathrow!!!!!
